Why It’s Important To Know What Season Of Life You’re In

Are you familiar with the Bible verse, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8? This is one of my favorite verses. It tells us that there is a season for everything. I don’t know about you, but that brings me great comfort and peace knowing that I don’t have to do or be all things, all at once, all the time. Everything has its own time. Its own season of life.

To everything there is a season,
and a time for every purpose under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to break down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to count as lost,
a time to keep and a time to discard,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Thinking about this year, can you identify the season or seasons you have gone through? Are you currently going through a different season right now than you did starting this year? Or have you been in the same season for an extended period of time? There is no wrong or right answer to these questions. God is perfect. He is perfect in His Ways and in His Timing. It is up to us to trust Him with whatever season of life He has called us into, no matter how long or short a period of time it is.

For me personally, January through March was a time to plant and a time to uproot. A time to plant God’s truth in me and uproot the lies and false teachings I believed since I was a little girl. April through September was a a time to break down and a time to build. A time to break down the places in my heart and mind that I thought I was truly trusting and surrendering to God, but wasn’t and a time to build those areas on solid foundation by letting go of control, completely. June to right now, was a time a time to be silent and a time to speak. During the summer I knew I wanted to be present with my son while he was on summer break from school. But once he went back, I still felt God was calling me to be silent, until right now. Right now, it’s a time to speak and share all that God’s Word has taught me and share with others about His Truth, Love, and Grace.

It’s so easy to get carried away with the busyness of life, I struggle with this too. Give yourself grace if you are finding yourself struggling with this right now. But, we are called to be followers of Christ and to be great stewards not only with His money, but with His resources, time, and what we do in this life as well.

To help you identify what season of life you are currently in, I created this Season of Life Application Devotional to help you get laser-focused to where God is currently calling you right now.
